Carlotti steering wheels were first wooden steering wheels associated with Les Leston and were made for him during the early years of the Les Leston range, before the designs that would later become synonymous with the name.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOur continuation of this early design is \u003cstrong\u003ehandmade in England from beech\u003c\/strong\u003e and features an \u003cstrong\u003eLL stamp\u003c\/strong\u003e, giving the wheel a distinctive Les Leston identity while retaining the simple character of the original Carlotti steering wheels.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRather than using the traditional metal rivets found on many period wooden steering wheels, this version features \u003cstrong\u003edark walnut wooden dowels set into the beech rim\u003c\/strong\u003e. The contrast between the lighter beech and dark walnut creates a subtle detail while maintaining the traditional handcrafted appearance of the wheel.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe rear of the wooden rim features closely spaced \u003cstrong\u003eJaguar D Type style finger grooves\u003c\/strong\u003e. More frequent than the grooves found on many traditional wooden steering wheels, they allow the fingers to sit naturally around the rim and provide an exceptionally comfortable and ergonomic feel in the hands. They also give the wheel a distinctive competition inspired character.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEach steering wheel is individually made to order and finished by hand. The combination of the classic Carlotti design, beech rim, walnut dowels, LL detailing and D Type inspired finger grooves makes this wheel particularly suited to classic sports cars, GT cars and historic competition cars from the 1950s and 1960s.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe wheel can be manufactured to suit a wide range of steering wheel bosses, including original Les Leston, Moto Lita, Momo, Nardi and custom applications.
